Basement Waterproofing Makeover

Wanting to completely waterproof and makeover his basement, one of our employees decided that this weekend was the time to solve any types of future problems that could potentially happen.  Since this was a new basement without any previously applied coating or sealer, all that was required was that the surface of the walls were free of excess dust.

After brooming the walls, he mixed up his prime coat of PermaFlex™ with catalyst/accelerator and then added solvent to thin.  A couple of ounces of black PermaFlex™ per gallon of white PermaFlex™ were added to slightly tint the prime coat a darker color to make it much easier to see where he needed to roll for his final white coat.

After the prime coat was done, he mixed up two parts LRB (Liquid Rubber Base) with 1 part TAV™ (Thickening Activator) and used a 1 gallon Ziploc® freezer bag with the corner cut to squeeze out a 1″ diameter bead in all the the wall/floor junctions and wall/wall junctions.  This bead was smoothed/tooled with a 3″ paint brush dipped in Xylene.

Later, a final white coat of PermaFlex™ was applied to all of the walls (plus one foot onto the floor).  Next, the floor will be completely resurfaced with a prime coat of dark tan PermaFlex™, a broadcast coat of dark tan PermaFlex™ and our 1/16″ Smokey Mountain Slate color flakes will be broadcast to rejection into it. A thick layer (90 sq. ft. a gallon) of our Neat Coat epoxy then a final protective wear layer of Superthane to top . . . Graniflex™, the ultimate, forever flexible, waterproofing decorative system!

Preventive measures before any problems arise is always great, but SANI-TRED® DIY basement sealing products can be used to solve ongoing moisture problems. Sleep well at night knowing that your basement is dry and your valuables stored there are protected against water damage.
