Kid friendly DIY projects

As a parent you are probably always looking for ways to spend time outdoors with your kids. While staying inside playing video games is ok for some, we all know the best memories happen off the couch.

Looking around the internet, there are a lot of kids DIY projects you can do that entertain your kids and get them away from television. Here’s a list of our favorite outdoor activities for children.

Water Blob

A water blob is truly a unique project that can bring your children hours of fun. A water blob is a large piece of plastic sheeting filled with water and sealed; creating a cool play surface that simulates water but is completely dry. Your kids will have tons of fun playing with a water blob on your deck, in your yard, or wherever else you put it, while staying dry. Great for kids of all ages and easy to make.

Or if you’re looking for something smaller and more portable, try a mini-water blob.

Water Rocket

If you want to build something that is fun and educational, why not try a homemade water rocket? Using common household items, you and your child can build a rocket that uses water pressure to launch into the air. A well-built water rocket can launch high into the air and entertain your children for a long time.

Rain Boot Planters

But what about something you can do together? If your kids like helping around your garden, try repurposing old rain boots into decorative flower planters. This project is simple, yet makes your garden stand out in a really neat way.

Splash Pad

If you’re really looking for something unique and fun for your kids, a splash pad might be the right project for you. A splash pad is a pad of concrete which has a variety of water jets and fountains built into the surface that create varying streams of water. This makes a slab of concrete that is also a water feature and entertains your children on a hot afternoon. This is a more labor-intensive DIY project, but a well-built splash pad can be hours and hours of fun for your children and create memories you’ll share for years to come.
