Step by Step Swimming Pool Repair, Restoration and Waterproofing
Pool Coating Products Needed: PermaFlex®, LRB (Liquid Rubber Base) and TAV (Thickening Activator)
Step 1: Prepare
The first thing you would do is prepare the substrate. Meaning remove any loose crumbly substrate, make sure the substrate is clean, dry, free of any previous applied products, and foreign matter.
Step 2: Prime
Prime the substrate with 1 coat of PermaFlex (240 sq ft per gal). Cement block surfaces need 2 prime coats of PermaFlex. This first coat of PermaFlex will penetrate into the substrate thencure as tough as a tire. This penetration enables SANI-TRED PermaFlex to permanently adhere to the original substrate for the life of the structure. Shown using light grey.
Step 3: Patch
Patch and profile any joints, seams, cracks, holes and rough areas using LRB/TAV mixture (Liquid Rubber Base, Thickening Activator). When 2 parts LRB is combined with 1part TAV you will have a thickened mixture of watertight swimming pool sealant that can be applied at ANY thickness in one application. Wall/floor junctions require a 1” diameter bead of LRB/TAV mixture and most cracks use a 3/4′′ diameter bead. LRB can be used by itself (as a liquid membrane) to self level and smooth out any rough horizontal areas.

Step 4: Topcoat
Topcoat using PermaFlex Liquid Rubber Coating (240 sq ft per gal). This coat of PermaFlex will molecularly weld to the previous applications giving you a 100% waterproof sealant for pools and seamless application. Shown using light tan.
Step 5: Epoxy Pool Paint
Apply at least 1 coat of a good 2part swimming pool epoxy for extreme chemical resistance and desired color.
