How to Repair a Leaking Gutter

A leaking gutter is a common household problem that can cause a surprising amount of damage. How to Fix Leaking Downspouts for Metal Gutters

What You’ll Need in Repairing Leaking Gutters: Wire brush, SANI-TRED® PermaFlex™ liquid rubber coating, LRB (Liquid Rubber Base), TAV™ (Thickening Activator)

STEP 1
Remove the portion of the downspout that is leaking.

STEP 2
Use a wire brush to clean that section of the downspout and completely remove the old adhesive of caulking.

STEP 3
Clean the joints to keep the leak from recurring.

STEP 4
Apply a coat of SANI-TRED PermaFlex to prime the surface. Let dry.

STEP 5
Apply Sani-Tred LRB/TAV mixture to the entire joint, making sure the whole joint is filled in.

STEP 6
Cover the joint with a layer of PermaFlex and let dry.

STEP 7
Place the gutter back into position with new fasteners and connectors.

How to Repair Gutter Railings

STEP 1
Clean the leaking area with a wire brush. Make sure to remove all loose particles and leaves. Wash out with water and allow to dry, if necessary. Then use sandpaper to remove any remaining loose particles from the hole.

STEP 2
Apply a coat of Sani-Tred PermaFlex to prime the surface. Let dry for 1-2 hours.

STEP 3
Apply Sani-Tred LRB/TAV mixture to the hole.

STEP 4
Apply a topcoat of Sani-Tred PermaFlex and let dry.
